WHat is

Pelvic Therapy

Pelvic Therapy treats a variety of problems related to bowel or bladder issues, intimacy, and reproductive care such as endometriosis or pregnancy. We can help solve problems related to constipation, painful sex, or pelvic organ prolapse. If you have muscle spasms, tailbone pain, have gone through a surgery, or have old c-section/ mastectomy scars we will treat you according to your specific needs and goals.

Pelvic floor dysfunction tends to be overlooked due to lack of holistic care in the medical community. At Zest we focus on the mind-body connection.

Realizing the unique needs we all possess, Jamie approaches treatment from a personalized stand point. Everyone’s healing journey looks different. Each session is tailored for you.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need pelvic therapy?

Think of the issue you are struggling with right now. Maybe it has to do with incontinence, so you have cut down on your water intake and your social life for fear of an accident in public, and are now dehydrated and miss your buddies. Maybe you stopped running or taking an exercise class because you’re worried about leakage, or organ prolapse, or you go to the bathroom 26 times a day and it’s affecting your ability to focus on your work. Maybe sex with your partner is no longer enjoyable because of pain or scar tissue buildup or a lack of function. Maybe you are tired of being in pain, or embarrassed about your body. These problems don’t just go away on their own. Pelvic health occupational therapy is about more than just returning your bowel, bladder or sexual function, and strengthening or lengthening pelvic muscles. It’s about giving you the tools you need to reclaim your life.

What is my first appointment like?

Getting a complete history will help to understand how your concerns have been affecting your life. You will complete intake online through our scheduling system. Intake must be completed before the initial appointment in order to make the most use of our time together. This helps to provide you with the best quality treatment. If intake is not completed we can arrange to reschedule your appointment. Information provided is entirely confidential and follows HIPPA rules. The more complete a history you can provide, the more thoroughly Jamie can understand the problem and develop a personalized treatment program. If appropriate, we can complete an internal pelvic floor examination, with your consent. We can also assess your internal pelvic floor muscles using an EMG sensor that you insert yourself privately.
